I have sat here over and over thinking of the right words to write in this box, but I can’t seem to find them.  We have been torn apart as a family from the news we have recently received and that I’m about to share with you all.

As a family we have set up this go fund me page to try and raise as much money as we can for my Auntie, Sue Pickering, who’s recently been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at the young age of 46.

She is due to start chemotherapy in  2 weeks time, which is still a while to wait considering the diagnoses. The money we raise will be used to fly her abroad to either America, Austria, or Germany for treatment that isn’t available on the NHS. They have much more advanced technology and procedures in other countries, And we really feel it would benefit her and give her a fighting chance.

we know that we have set a high target to reach, but we really need all the help we can get. Everyone that knows our family knows how close we all are and we’re not going down without a fight.

Sue has, apart from 2 years she spent working for the NHS as a healthcare assistant, been a florist for 30 years. In both these times she has been there for thousands of people both in some of their happiest moments and in their darkest times. Her love for flowers and love for people means that she pours her heart into bringing beauty to joyous events such as weddings, anniverseries and birthdays. Even more, she has been there for many people in their saddest moments, people who have lost parents, partners and even children. Her flowers bring a little color to ocassions which are black and grey for the people affected and hopefully help to linder some of the grief they feel.

For all the good she has brought into our world, we want to do everything we can to help her continue to be the wonderful, positive person she is and if raising this money can help her live a longer and fuller life, noone deserves it more than her.

Sue is also huge part of the community dedicating ten years to fundraising and helping young boys and girls of Blackburn have a fun and safe environment to play football among other activities at Fenny Reccers. She was involved in all the fundraisers such as bonfire nights and summer fairs or even just helping get the pitches ready for games. This is our chance as a community to give her some thing back.

If we don’t managed to hit the target and get to where we need to be, or the treatment isn’t successful then the money will be given to Sue, her partner and her 17 year old son to create memories with, some will be put aside for her son when he turns 18 and some will be donated to a cancer charity of her choice.

Please, please, any donation, no matter how small will be a massive help. We are also currently planning some fundraising events/ideas To help us reach our target, and we are open to any suggestions - all welcome and would be really appreciated. Please if everyone could share this page and if anyone has any connections to radio stations, news papers, television/media I would be eternally grateful if you could give me any information or forward this page for me. This is the last thing I’d have ever thought I’d be writing. As you can imagine all of our hearts are broken.

All our love, the Pickering’s X
