I have no way to better express the tragic loss of my sister’s family than to share her own words with you. We are trying to help with immediate costs and hoping to buy them some time in figuring out how to financially get back on their feet. Here is the message she posted, thank you all for the outpouring of love and well wishes we have already received.
”I don’t have words for today...I’m so fucking sad, and devastated, and scared, and angry. I’m frozen in a sea of disbelief and horrendous pain for myself and especially for our children.
Today was supposed to be Parker’s 10th birthday party. Instead, depression won a very long battle and at 42 years old, everything became too much. Around 10am this morning, Adam took his own life in our driveway while I desperately tried to get help that didn’t make it to him in time.
The kids and I are trying our best to navigate this horrendous and unexpected loss, and thankfully for them, they didn’t see what happened. But the huge hole is there in our hearts and home, and we miss him more than anything imaginable. They all wished tonight that he would come back and we could just forget that this whole thing ever happened...It’s going to be a very long road.
Depression is real and cannot be ignored. Depression medications may stop working for you, but you have to speak with your doctor and make the adjustments. Whatever you do, don’t give up. Accepting help does not make you weak, and needing something different doesn’t mean you’re broken.
Before they took him away today, I got to say my goodbyes and screamed at the sky. I held his hand like we did every night on the couch and promised him I’d continue to love him forever. My heart is shattered.
