Food, Transportation, Stay, during Chemo

Hi Friends,

My sweet cousin, Dakota, has been diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer and her family needs help. Even though she’s only 14 she’s taken all the heavy news in stride but her battle is only beginning.

She begins chemo next week to start her fight against dysgerminoma.

A little bit of her story is below. It’s somewhat graphic so proceed with caution.


She had been struggling with back pain and pain in her lower abdomen so her mom took her to the doctor. The doctors thought she had a large fibroid on her ovary so they decided to remove it immediately.

It was the size of a cantaloupe. As soon as they began surgery they realized it was a cancerous mass. It unexpectedly ruptured during surgery, turning what was supposed to be a 1hr surgery into a 6hr surgery and she lost an ovary, fallopian tube, her appendix, and a portion of her colon.

Since the cancer wasn’t contained they weren’t able to remove it all. 

When she woke up from surgery she FaceTimed with my mom and the first thing she had to say was.. “my back doesn’t hurt anymore auntie, and I only lost ONE ovary, a fallopian tube, my appendix, and a little bit of my colon” .. her attitude about something so potentially life-altering is really a testament to her personality. She always has something positive to say even during times like these. It’s just the way she is.

Their family has already been through so much this past year and now they’re facing cancer. Any donation at all is so graciously accepted.

100% of all donations will go towards meals, transportation, and a place to stay as they face this battle together. Something no one should have to worry about during a time like this.
