The African Food Festival in Leipzig was created to expand and explore the different gastronomical avenues of the World. We recognized a problem in Leipzig, there was not enough representation of African Culinary Dishes. As travellers and huge lovers of African diversity and heritage, we decided to change that. The journey started in 2016 when we hosted different types of Food and live performance Arts events in and around Leipzig. The events were a hit every time. As artists who solely lived from either Music gigs or playing as an artist from other peoples Events. We really struggled to upscale to what we really wanted to do, which was a full-on African Music, Crafts and Food Festival.
In Late 2018 we finally put together some coins from all the gigs and small shows we had worked for. Finally, our vision of displaying our work was in motion. Initially, we had been going around Germany meeting all types of cooks, artists, musicians who had committed to ensuring that our dream comes true.
On the 8th of June in 2019 we finally open our doors to Leipzig. The event had about 2000 plus guests, most of which could not even afford the entry amount of 4 Euros. This got us thinking, We have to make it more accessible to the common man in Leipzig. By acquiring funding we will both make it either free or donation-based and we can cover most of our costs, that we cannot afford. To begin with, we put almost 2000 Euros as an investment to make it possible but we still had major issues which could have been detrimental to our event.
We wanted to reach out to you the lovely people of GoFundMe to help us reach our goal of recreating the African Food Festival In Leipzig in 2020. Below we will list all of the needs that we require help with, namely;
