Foetal Monitors and Baby Scales for Mnazi Mmoja
Tax deductible
Hello!
We are Simi, Lateefah, Chloe, Lily, Louise and Charlotte. We are student healthcare professionals (doctors and midwives) doing an elective placement with Knowledge for Change (K4C) in Mnazi Mmoja Hospital in Zanzibar, Tanzania.
K4C is a UK-based charity and registered NGO in Tanzania, aiming to strengthen health systems and promote ethical and sustainable development in low-and middle-income countries. Mnazi Mmoja hospital is the main referral hospital for all patients in Zanzibar and it provides free healthcare.
We are currently doing our placement in the maternity department and having been here for a few days/ weeks, we’ve seen how amazing and resourceful all the staff are but the care they provide can be enhanced by materials and equipment we have such easy access to in the UK.
We are raising money for a foetal Doppler (Sonicaid by Huntleigh) and baby scales. The maternity department doesn’t have a handheld Doppler which could help them monitor the foetal heart rate much more accurately than they are currently able to. The baby scales in the department are broken!! We estimate it will cost around £800 for these resources and the money will go directly to Knowledge for Change, who will buy the resources and distribute directly to Mnazi Mmoja Hospital.
Maternity and women’s health is something we are all passionate about and we would love to be able to donate these resources to the maternity department. Any amount that you are able to donate is so appreciated.
We hope you are able to join us!
