Laura Davies is an avid marathoner, athlete and triathlete who has completed two full marathons, an Ironman 70.3 and multiple half marathons, 5Ks and 10Ks.
On September 18, Laura had a seizure while at home cooking dinner. She was in the process of training for her 3rd Full Marathon when this happened. Shortly after she was diagnosed with a grade II-III Astrocytoma to the right frontal lobe of her brain and required immediate surgical resection to remove as much of the tumor as possible.
The surgery was successful, but they could not completely remove all of the tumor, and as a result she will require chemotherapy and radiation to further stabilize the tumor and prevent progression.
Chemotherapy and radiation is costly, and will place a heavy financial burden on the family as Laura will not be able to work full time and the cost for the treatment is significant, even with insurance. Any amount helps and will reduce the stress associated with financial strain which ultimately will help with the healing process.
We appreciate our wonderful friends and family who have stood by us throughout this ordeal and look forward to getting Laura back to competing in races and triathlons in the near future.
