Shantelle's has written her story as an update, (10/28/14). Please go in and view. Thanks.
Telly is my daughter-in-law who, right after delivering her 2nd child, was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer. During her pregnancy, she lost 60# and was in pain most of the 9 months of pregnancy.
Their son was born in March 2013 and Telly was diagnosed June 2013 when he was 10 weeks old.
Totally shocked and running on adrenaline is how I would describe their lives during this time of original diagnosis and surgeries, as she had 2 major surgeries to remove so many cancerous tumors, affected organs, and put in an illiostomy. 4 subsequent surgeries were necessary as well and this was in a very short time frame. Dan was also holding down the fort with the kids, and also working while helping her to recover, both in the hospital and at home. They had lots of help from friends and relatives as well, but this is such a hard situation: to be so young with 2 young kids and this diagnosis, it is heartbreaking.
At this time, Telly is doing chemo again for another tumor that has appeared after her last round of 6 chemo treatments.
She is unable to work right now, and they still have all the expenses people with kids have, but with the addition of past and ongoing medical bills, it makes it stressful on both of them. They need to concentrate on moving forward, not medical bills.
Their medical bills are more than $18,000.00, but I have asked for a little more, as more bills are coming in daily. Every little bit will help, please give as much as you can and feel free to share this with anyone you wish to.
Telly, Dan and both the little guys thank you so much and so does everyone else in our family.
