Official GoFundMe for the Flowers for Eva™ Initiative.  With a team of colleges, the Flowers for Eva™ Initiative is an Open Source Project NAGA™ concept to launch on Memorial Day, May 28th, 2018 and completion date of Veterans Day, November 11th, 2018. The Project NAGA™ Bridge Model™ aims to end the dual public healthcare crisis of elderly veterans dying alone and his or her remains going unclaimed.

Project NAGA™, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation incorporated under the Pennsylvania Nonprofit Corporation Law of 1988, EIN# 81-5381015.Project NAGA™, NAGA™, Flowers for Eva™, Bridge Model™, Words Are Forever™ are either registered trademarks or trademarks of Project NAGA™ Corporation in the United States of America.

With the $5,000 we raise, documenting the life stories of 17 elderly veterans whose remains went unclaimed, permanently honoring their memory, and integrating their knowledge into the community will prove to be achievable goals. Critically, donations will ensure the open source Bridge Model™ is quickly disseminated to the public to end the public health care crisis of elderly veterans dying alone and his or her remains going unclaimed across the United States.

Dr. Jan Cook, Bucks County Community College (BCCC), wrote the first literature review on these issues in the veteran community investigating the premise that a health crisis exists in veterans’ health care settings for veterans at the end of life; and, regarding their unclaimed remains. Dr. Cook stated, "The review sheds light on veterans' end of life issues and builds a case for solving the problems via cooperative efforts of healthcare professionals, military and civilian. A prominent military journal will publish this literature review in Spring 2018."

Vietnam Veteran PFC Peter Evans had a dying wish
to solve the problem of elderly veterans dying alone; his belief was that this problem is a national crisis. The belief seems to hold correct. The scope of the problem is large, and when veterans die alone their remains may go unclaimed in morgues and funeral homes for years.

At least 40,000 veterans are dying alone, or unclaimed in morgues and funeral homes.  However, the lack of a national model to identify elderly veterans at risk of dying alone and the lack of standards for measuring success, has created a dual public health care crisis with veterans who die alone and whose remains go unclaimed. Importantly, there is an opportunity to demonstrate the moral, and economic value in solving this social crisis.

As Dr. Jan Cook's research confirms, there is currently no national model for addressing these issues, and all elderly veterans may be at risk of dying alone, or minimally, the knowledge of the accomplished veteran will vanish, and is not integrated into the community.

Based on the dying wish of Vietnam Veteran PFC Peter Evans, Project NAGA™ was founded by Dan Kohlbek, Marine Corps Veteran, in 2017.  After traveling to seven states to research these issues, and reviewing hundreds of problems around veterans dying alone, Mr. Kohlbek discovered these issues exist throughout the United States.  Seven months later, and with a team of colleges, the Flowers for Eva™  Initiative began with the hope that one day elderly veterans would no longer die alone and have their remains go unclaimed.

Importantly, older veterans will have his or her life stories documented to permanently honor their knowledge, experience, and integrate these accomplishments into the community.  These beliefs, supported by doctoral-level research, form the foundation of the Project NAGA™ Bridge Model™.  It is working.

After months of research, the results of a pilot implementations of the Bridge Model™ proved stunning.  These successes include, most likely the first song to build awareness of these issues.  The song "Forgotten" written and recorded by Kari Smith brings attention to the issues of elderly veterans dying alone and their remains going unclaimed.  Additionally, Deborah Riccardi, Professor, Art Department, Bucks County Community College (BCCC), took a proactive leadership role in bringing awareness to these issues. Her student, an Air Force Korean War Veteran, and Architect, Bill Edwards, was inspired to create probably the first oil painting of an unclaimed veteran PN1 Eva Binns .

Also, Tyler Creighton, Journalism Department, BCCC, met with Dan Kohlbek, Founder, Project NAGA™, Inc. and Dr. Jan Cook, BCCC.  The result of the meeting, and a significant accomplishment, was likely the first photo of an unclaimed veteran presented on the front-page of a college newspaper.  Furthermore, a review of educational materials to include veterans’ topics is beginning.  Critically, Pennsylvania State Rep Perry Warren is developing legislative options to end this dual public health care crisis in the veteran community.

Due to these early successes, the Flowers for Eva™ Initiative is already 35% complete before launch. Critically, the Bridge Model™ has the support of many individuals: several doctors, numerous professors, staff, students, hundreds of volunteers; and has the support of doctoral level scholarly research.

The identification and integration of knowledge and accomplishments of veterans into our society is a critical and necessary goal for our country.  This knowledge is at risk of being lost to history.  At current death rates, our entire World War II Generation will be lost in three in and half years.  And this crisis is affecting veterans of all generations.

Moving forward, researching the remaining unclaimed veterans interred with PN1 Eva BinnsSgt. Frank Peter Chervoitch , and Pvt. Malcolm Drummond is currently the joint project of a team of colleges.  This Initiative is called Flowers for Eva™.  The goals are to identify 17 unclaimed veterans correctly, document their life stories, permanently honor these veterans, conduct a review of educational materials for future caregivers, and continue to integrate the lessons learned into all aspects of the education systems.  We believe accomplishing these goals will help solve the dual healthcare crisis of elderly veterans dying alone and his or her remains going unclaimed.

Every donation made goes directly to implementing the Bridge Model™ to solve the issues of elderly veterans dying alone and their remains going unclaimed and ongoing operations. Significant inroads to achieving a solution for this national crisis is continuing.  The Flowers for Eva™ Initiative is 35% complete before launch, and 70% funded.

Critically, these donations ensure the open source Bridge Model™ is quickly disseminated to the public to end the public health care crisis of elderly veterans dying alone and his or her remains going unclaimed across the United States.
