All Ages Tool Library and Playground

Donation protected
The Flow Nexus is building a mobile tool library with equipment for juggling, martial arts, fire spinning, and myriad other movement and flow arts.  Flow arts is an emergent discipline encompassing a huge range of forms of expression. Arising from the circus and underground festival communities, it has come to encompass acro-yoga, glow-stringing, hula hooping, belly dancing, breakdancing, parkour, martial arts, aerials, circus arts, and more. These movement practices share one thing: the altered state of consciousness known as "Flow". When in "Flow", time and self criticism melt away, while a greater capacity for innovation, problem solving, and expression takes hold.

Flow is one of the best experiences in life, as one accesses movements with grace and ease. Many go through their whole lives with but glimpses of the ecstatic state of Flow, or chase after it vainly as an adrenaline or endorphin junkie.
Flow Artists are the fortunate few who have discovered a practice that allows them regular access to this altered state. We aim to provide the tools, space, and permission for all participants to so express themselves radically and fully.

Anyone can access flow states, whether through extreme sports, meditating prior to intense physical or mental activity, or challenging themselves through somatic expression.  The benefits of accessing a Flow State are well documented: https://positivepsychlopedia.com/year-of-happy/benefits-of-flow/

We're committed to create a mobile flow playground with dozens of different types of movement tools so that anyone who encounters it has an opportunity to find the flow art that suits them the best.  It will incorporate balancing, music, shade, lighting, art, and implicit design that will guide participants through a whole range of movement types and forms.  We'll be taking it to several festivals, including Catharsis in Washington DC this past May, as well as this coming Burning Man, and hopefully local street fairs and excursions to parks and beaches.  We've got an awesome team of people helping to create it, and were even chosen as official honorarium art pieces by the Burning Man Project.

It would mean a lot to me if you could support this project so that we can share flow with all those who are called. If you have anything you'd like to donate, such as flow tools (we're still in need of fans, wings, dragon staves, parkour equipment, and musical instruments), lighting, or flooring, contact me at [email redacted]
