For those not familiar with Sled Hockey...Ice Sledge Hockey was invented in the early 1960's at a rehabilitation center in Stockholm, Sweden and has since become one of the most popular sports in the Paralympic Games. Known as Sled Hockey in the United States, this fast-paced sport is designed to allow participants who have a physical disability to play Ice Hockey. Sled Hockey is similar to Ice Hockey in that it is played on a regulation-size rink and standard hockey rules apply (including legal body contact and shooting), but players use specially designed sleds and two short sticks fitted with pics to propel themselves up and down the ice.
