Relief for the Flores Quintu family
Donation protected
The Flores Quintu family of Taray (a small pueblo near Cusco, Peru), lost their home and all of their posessions in a fire on the night of November 16th. The fire was started by an electrical short, and within a few hours their house was consumed, along with everything in it. All that is left is the adobe (earthen brick) walls and a few charred beams. Now they will need to rebuild from the ground up, and I am seeking your help in making this possible for them. It will cost them between $8,000-$10,000 to completely rebuild their house, plus some extra to cover things like plates, bowls, silverware, furniture, clothing, beds, etc. Isidro (the father) works construction here in the Sacred Valley, a job which pays about $10 a day, and his wife Gregoria sells ceramics in the local market, but all of her stock was inside of the house at the time of the fire. As you can imagine, at the rate in which they earn, it will be years before they might be able to rebuild their lives. Your donations, however small, will not only help to make this reconstruction possible in a much shorter period of time, but it will also help to bring joy to the heart of a distant stranger, knowing that someone who doesn't even know them cares enough to lend a hand. Along with Isidro and Gregoria, you will also be helping their 6 children, aged 3-18, and their mother Alejandrina, aged 63, who also lives with them.
Let us be the change we wish to see in the world, and begin by helping out this very sweet family who were stroked with some very bad luck.
In Quechua, there is a phrase: "Ayllu Masikunapa"-- we are ALL family.
NOTE: Several people have written that they are unable to contribute with a credit card, and would like to contribute via PayPal. For this, Sean West will be collecting, and his PayPal is under [email redacted]
