Flood disaster recovery

Hi, this is my Mom and her faithful companion. She is 88 years old and lived with her dog in a small home in a campground in upstate New York. She has had a really rough stretch of bad luck. A few months ago she had hip surgery and while rehabbing her cane stuck and she fell causing a clean break just below her shoulder. (The arm she needed to use her cane with). If that wasn’t bad enough she was woke up at 3:00 am on January 12th when her dog started barking. She had a friend staying with her to help her, when they got up to see what was going on, they stepped into 3 feet of water. There was an ice jam on the river and water was pouring into her home. It was -3 below zero! Her friend got her and the dog into the car which already had water running into it. She had lost everything. The only thing she has is the clothes she had on. Thank God her friend was there, she wouldn’t have made it without help. Her car was a total loss. She didn’t have flood insurance so they are covering nothing in the home. She will get enough for the car to payoff what she owes. If you have ever had to deal with a situation like this, whether a flood, fire, tornado, whatever you don’t realize what you have and how expensive it is to replace basic essentials until you lose them. I realize she will not be able to replace all that she has lost, but any help to replace some of the essentials that you need to exist would be appreciated so very much. On a positive note, thank God for her dog and friend. She made it out:)
