Flavia's Funeral: the momma butterfly.

On June 9, 2021, Flavia Nava Reyes left this physical world to join the spiritual one. Flavia or as many people knew her as Favi was born on July 30th, 1965. She is a daughter, wife, mother, sister and so much more. She was known for her altruistic way of life and positive way of looking at the world. Whether she was cooking delicious recipes filled with memories generations old, educating elementary students in the Desert Sands Unified School District, and instilling the character-building values of, courage, faith, hope, unconditional love, honesty, independence, and humility in the hearts, of her husband, children, family members, & countless friends both in the Coachella Valley and in her hometown of Chametla, which she was extremely proud to call her home.

Flavia was the kind of woman that everyone she would meet even in passing was drawn to loving and knowing due to the quiet, unassuming, sense of grace that now radiates from her ascending soul outstretched like the wings of the yellow butterfly that Flavia has become. Now that she has begun her journey from the earthly chrysalis of her physical body to the serenity of the sunsets of the celestial realm beyond this mortal plane. Flavia will be sorely missed but eternally loved by all who knew her. While we may understand that the death of our parents is inevitable in the abstract sense, that foreknowledge doesn’t lessen the grief when a loved one dies.
