Hello, we hope you're well. We are Jack and Shannon, two young actors who would like to put on our play that we have spent the past year developingWhat the fundraising money is being used forWith your support we would like to spend the money raised as effectively as possible. We plan to split the money between the construction of the set – of which we already have drawn up plans – and the costume. Due to Fixing a Brick being a story set in the late 1940s, whether it be stitching together clothing or buying it outright, the cost of the costume does quickly rack up. Again, we are planning our budget as cost effective as possible and are not planning to waste any potential donators money on something of excessive cost.
What is Fixing a Brick?
Beth and Philip are both veterans in their own respects – Philip is a former soldier, who is now recovering from a wounded leg. Beth is a nurse who faces the stress and pressure of her job every single day.Fixing a Brick is a post-war, British play set in the late 1940s – specifically between 1946 and 1947.
With this original story we are exploring the period of time for civilians directly after the second world war; how did people deal with themselves after such an enormous feat in overcoming such terror and violence?In our current climate, the arts are suffering greatly. There are constant shutdowns of theatres that most likely will not be able to open again due to a lack of funding.
With Fixing a Brick we would like to say that original stories are worth your time, we are creating this from the deepest part of our hearts for people to experience with us.
