Fix Woody's Broken Heart
Donation protected
Woody, 1½ years old, was born on the streets of Portugal, fed by holiday-makers. He was rescued by the RSPCA who brought him to England, and we fell in love with him at the rescue centre.
Unfortunately we discovered that Woody has a heart defect which was not picked up by vets before he came to live with us.
He has Aortic Valve Narrowing, which means his heart has to work overtime to squeeze blood out to his body. This means he can't play for long without his back legs collapsing and getting very short of breath. His life expectancy without treatment is probably only a year, according to Grove Lodge vets. Treatment involves keyhole surgery to insert a stent, and would give Woody a happy, healthy , full life.
Treatment is expensive, even with Grove Lodge's generous discount offer and support. We do have pet insurance but it won't cover this pre-existing condition.
We would normally try to find the money ourselves, but I'm a teacher currently unable to work due to a double hernia (on a long waiting list for NHS operation).
