Hello Family and Friends. Most of you know exactly who we are and and what our story is. Many of our amazing friends actually encouraged us to start this page. However, for those of you who may not know us yet, here we are.
My name is Michele Fisher. My husband Ed and and I have been married for 10 years and for the last 9 and a half years we have been trying to conceive. We decided to start trying to have a baby about 6 months into our marriage. After 2 short months that beautiful little test came out positive, however, 2 weeks later we had a miscarriage. This was emotionally difficult for both of us but we vowed to keep trying. Telling ourselves everything happens for a reason. The baby must not of been healthy.
We wanted so badly to begin our family. The hope was at least 3 children by the time turned 40.
Unfortunately for the next 6 years we were unsuccessful.
We finally decided to seek help from a fertility doctor. (Did you know that if you have tried unsuccessfully to get pregnant for 1 year, you are one of less than 5%?! ?..we didn't either)
So they begin trying to find the problem. Through a series of tests, a lot of tests, a lot of embarrassing, invasive tests. (I mean imagine being a man having to give samples over and over and over. They give you a cup and everyone knows what your doing in that little room. But hey, no pressure .... And as a woman, well let's just say my doc knows me better than I would like anyone to know me. ) After many of these tests, we come to find out I have a lump on my throid , and a few more test later I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, bringing our entire fertility process to a screeching halt. I can not begin to tell you the emotional hit that the word cancer takes on you, all the while already feeling broken because as a woman because you haven't been able to do the one thing we were designed to do, carry a baby.
Now all clouds have a silver lining. First I am Cancer free! Thank you Jesus and and all the staff at Mayo Clinic. Second, our fertility doctor said, they were not able to find any reason that I can not get pregnant or stay pregnant. We have what they call unexplained infertility. I know.... That's good and bad, and extremely frustrating.....but, they told us that they can help. Woohoo. :)
The doctor thought we should have no problems getting pregnant using a method called IUI. Intra Uteral Insemination. This is where they put the little swimmers, sorry husband, big strong swimmers, up there right where they need to be to fight it out and get me pregnant. This is also the lesser expensive way. We have tried 3 of these procedures, and I guess just like the owner, the eggs were a bit too stubborn.
The Hope we have while doing all of these procedures builds our desire to be parents even more than ever.
Now our next step is IVF. In Vitro Fertilization. This is where they will extract my eggs, fertilize them outside of my body then wait to see which ones stay strong. They then transplant the strong ones back inside of me, and God willing, I am pregnant. The process takes 3 months with more tests, expensive medication and many many doctor visits. This procedure is the expensive one., which is why we are asking for your help.
Please understand that you will be helping us with our biggest hope and prayers of having children. That even a little bit would contribute to changing our world. We will keep you updated on the process as we go along. We will also be sure our child knows that so many people believed in our dream and helped give them life. That goodness and hope and love still remain in this world.
