First Trans-Owned DJ Studio & Business

If you don't know me, here is a little introduction... I'm a 20 years old DJ & Producer born & raised in Montreal, Qc. I also happen to be trans, which definitely adds layers of hardships when it comes to the music industry. I have wanted to open my business and studio for a while now, which was an idea that came up during the pandemic. When I the clubs shut down, I didn't have the money to have club DJ equipment like CDJs/XDJs or even basic speakers, and it was hard to even access these equipments outside of my DJ sets.

 

If you know me, you know I work none stop in order to beat the odds and create a happy life for myself as a black trans woman. I want to offer DJ equipment services & lessons, where people could come and record their sets or have lessons for a certain amount of hours. I've tried so many different ways to have the money to buy the equipment & a space to start my project, but honestly I know it would take me years to even have 10k$ of savings... But, this is where you can help me!!!

 

I want this space to be a business where I can build profit for a greater project I have for my community. My goal is to make that profit in five years so I can actually buy a space that would be a safe haven for my trans sisters & queer siblings. You'll be able to rent the equipment, and the profits would go for a great cause. This studio would also allow me to mentor other trans folks for free, that would want to learn how to DJ.

~3000$ : New versions of the XDJs or CDJs with effects

~1000-2000$ : Good Sound-system

~2000-3000$ : Secure Rent for 3-4 months to ease the opening

~2000$ : Decoration, Furniture, Staff salary *if needed*
