First Responder, Michael Sullivan battling ALS

Sully spent the majority of his career as a member of the SPECIAL OPERATIONS TEAM (SWAT).
From Sully’s wife, Laurie Sullivan:
My name is Laurie Sullivan and you all may know my husband Michael Sullivan aka Sully. You all may have noticed his sudden absence from the Norfolk Police Department.
While recovering from a work related neck injury, he was later diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig). My husband who was a member of the Norfolk Police Department Special Operations Team for 11 years (SOT or SWAT), an Academy Instructor, member of the Detective Unit, Bike Unit, and a Patrol Officer equaling a total of 20 years with the department.
My husband was really known for being an enthusiastic Defensive Tactics and Knife Defense Instructor. He was also known for instructing the (SWAT) Special Operations Teams School.
For those who know my husband you can only imagine what this has done to his mentality for being told that he can no longer do what he loves to do. At this time, he can no longer use his hands or arms. His speech is getting slightly slurred and now it is starting to affect his core muscles and needs assistance walking. His two young sons are Alex and Caleb are trying to adapt the best that they can.
We are staying positive that a cure will be found. We are praying constantly for strength and endurance during this difficult time .
Sully has had his ups and downs, mostly down, but his police family has kept him going. Although my husband has refused to accept any assistance, it has come a time where insurance does not pay for some of the necessities that are needed to care for his well-being. Though he is stubborn, I convinced him to start a Go Fund Me Page since a lot of people have asked how could they help.
My family thank you for your prayers and your love through this trial. Sully appreciates all who have reached out. He will answer as quickly as he can, but it certainly lifts his spirits to know people care.
