Give Peruvian Students Online Access to Classes

2020 Is a year we will never forget for reasons we all know and for the most personal reasons known only to ourselves. As most of us probably did, I found myself adjusting to new normals, working from home among other things. I am a certified Breathing Techniques instructor involved in education working with teachers, parents and students to incorporate healthy ways to deal with the stress we face every day, that is how I met Arturo Mendoza and Sandro Occsa. They are teachers in rural areas on the mountain region of Peru. To say that they face severe challenges to be able to get education to their students even in prepandemia times would be an understatement. This lack of resources has only deepened due to the current situation we face. Arturo is a World Math Champion and we first set out to organize the First Peruvian Math Competition, however, we realized that giving students access to online classes would have a bigger impact. We are raising money to buy tablets for the students in the region of Illahuasi, Apurimac. The photos posted with this campaign show the current situation of the students. With the second wave of Covid-19 hitting us, classes were suspended again and will remain virtual until June 2021.
We are choosing to buy the tablets locally to save on shipping and customs duties charges and most importantly the exchange rate would work on our favor. Each tablet is about S/. 600 Peruvian Soles which translates to $ 171 US Dollars. The price of the tablets is taken from a Peruvian Office Supply chain called Tai Loy

Classes are resuming fully online starting January 1st. We would need the funds available to us by December 25th so we could coordinate purchasing the tablets.
We are fully aware of the extraordinary times we are living but we believe it is exactly these circumstances that will allow for extraordinary changes.
The often used phrase every cent counts, has never been truer.
