Emergency Relief Fund for First Discoveries

Donation protected
First Discoveries Christian Preschool has served children in our community since 2007. Today we need your help!

Yay, we lowered our goal thanks to many of our enrolled families who have donated to support our school! $13K down -- $27K to go. Thank you!

To keep our doors open and continue to care for our young students, we need to raise $40,000 by the end of next month to fill the need our program faces due to the impact COVID-19 this summer. Your contribution to our COVID Emergency Relief Fund will help us keep our students safe as they gradually ease back into their school environment.

Rapidly changing needs under the COVID-19 health guidelines require new Health and Safety Protocols to keep our preschoolers safe at First Discoveries Christian Preschool. Click here to see a video of all the amazing things we've done!

Our dedicated teachers give the best of themselves daily to prepare our next generation. In this health crisis, we will bring in more team members and have fewer students. An equation that doesn't provide for fair compensation for our teachers and all the changes we've made. Please donate! Any amount helps!

- Our school needs to employ additional staff members to welcome and release our students and perform comprehensive health and temperature checks.

- Our school needs to bring in additional Teachers to allow for smaller groups of 1 to 4 ratio to help manage students' physical distance, sanitize toys, tables, and anything shared after every use.

- To maintain physical distance, we had to reduce our group sizes and our enrollment to half of what it is typically.

- Our school needs to provide all our students with a personal cubby to keep their shoes and jacket separate from others.

- Our school needs to provide all our students with a personal bin to reduce the need to sanitize small Montessori items after each use. Much of what used to be shared will now be packaged for each child.

- Our school needs to provide all our students with a personal table to eat their snacks and lunch 6' apart, as they cannot gather at the table.

- Our school needs to provide all our Teachers with PPE and sanitizing products.

- Our school needs to provide all our Teachers with several coverings to wear over clothing when a child requires comforting before holding them.

We look forward to re-opening and pray for wisdom and the provision to finance the complex transition that the current health crisis demands to re-introduce our very young students back to school.

We can all agree that preschoolers are fun, touchy, and unpredictable…we know, and we love them for who they are. The changes to our Health and Safety protocols enable and equip us to support our students' needs under the current health crisis so they can focus on learning and enjoy school. We must focus on our students, but we are stretched thin.

If you have the ability, please consider contributing to our COVID Emergency Relief Fund. Any amount helps!

Your generosity will directly benefit our students' experience so we can safely re-open and get back to doing what we love best!

A bit about our story...

We are honored to care for children 2-6 years old in a vibrant, carefully thought-out environment as they develop empathy, friendships, and conflict resolution so they can succeed quickly. A small ratio, loving teachers, and whole-child education provide little ones with an extraordinary experience!

We support the whole family. Parents choose their days and schedule; we take care of lunch, snacks, and bedding for nap and help with toilet training. Optional breakfast and extended care are available to serve our beautiful Bay Area's diverse needs. Our multilingual program engages students to practice both English and Spanish, and our multilingual approach provides an environment that is welcoming to children of all cultural backgrounds.

We are exploring options, resources, and revising safety protocols for when we re-open; so we can continue to provide a safe and healthy setting. More than ever, parents will need peace of mind that their children are with loving, nurturing, engaging, respectful, and genuine teachers. We want to support the transition back to school, so parents return to work and infuse our economy with all the goodness they can bring. Our teachers are at the heart of our school. They devote days, nights, and weekends to providing the best quality care and learning opportunities to our students.

Thank you so much for considering. Please share our GoFundMe among your friends. Stay well; we are praying for all our community and beyond. We're all in this together, and together we'll get out of it too!
