Firefighter Ethan J. Byrne Memorial Fund

As many of you are already aware, this past week Springfield Township suddenly lost one of its best and brightest, Firefighter Ethan Byrne. It is in Ethan’s memory that his friends have come together to create this Go Fund Me Page. Ethan Byrne was student at Springfield High School and a member of the Springfield Fire Company. Ethan joined the Springfield Fire Company at the age of 14. Ethan was always willing to do whatever was asked of him, even the jobs no one else wanted, and he did so without a single complaint. When a new cadet applicant applies to join the SFC, we have them fill out an application. One of the final questions is PLEASE STATE WHY YOU WANT TO BE A MEMBER OF OUR FIRE COMPANY, and at 14 years old Ethan Byrne wrote "I want to be a member of the fire company because I wish to serve my community and be a part of an important cause". That speaks to who Ethan was, how he lived his life, and the impact he had on his community, classmates, and its residents. One of the best aspects of our community is that in times of mourning and hardship, we rally to support one another. It is in that spirit, that this Go Fund Me has been created. Ethan’s friends, are looking to commission the building of a personalized memorial bench which will be located outside the Springfield Fire Company. Additionally, we are looking into starting a scholarship in Ethan’s name, so that going forward young people that exemplify Ethan’s kindness, dedication, and community spirit will have the opportunity to further their education. We are asking the residents of Springfield Township to help us memorialize this incredible young man, and help us ensure that while he may be gone, he will never be forgotten
