Fire & Water Stories: New Climate Fiction!

Two years ago, Mary Fifield and Kristin Thiel hatched the idea for a collection of fiction about the climate crisis--not one set in a distant dystopian future but one that speaks to what is happening today, exploring the complexity and beauty of humans' connection to each other and all other species on this remarkable planet.
Our dream is close to becoming a reality. This summer, Black Lawrence Press will publish Fire & Water Stories from the Anthropocene, featuring the work of 15 incredible authors with diverse perspectives from their lives on five continents.
Just one challenge remains, and we invite you to help us take this project over the finish line. We need to raise $3,500 for essential costs--one-time stipends for our 15 authors and social media marketing--that are not covered by the publisher's budget. Most literary projects run on a shoestring, and ours is no exception. Support from our community will help us recognize the wonderful gifts of the writers it is our honor to publish.
**The top three donors will receive a signed copy of Hot Season by Susan DeFreitas, The Stud Book by Monica Drake, American War by Omar El Akkad, and Parts per Million by Julia Stoops plus a gift copy of Fire & Water.**
