Fire Support Hayne Andrew Lane Seward Co. Kansas

The Southwestern Heights FFA has organized a GoFundMe to provide financial support for the Edmunds and Morris Families who experienced significant damage including loss of property, poultry, and pets as a result of the Hayne Andrew Lane Fire in Seward County Kansas.

At 12:03 PM on Monday, February 26, 2024 Seward County Firefighters were dispatched to a residential fire on Andrew Lane East of Road P in Seward County Kansas. The fire involved multiple homes including those of two families with students enrolled in Agricultural Education & FFA at USD 483 Southwestern Heights High School.

30 firefighters responded from Seward County, Liberal City, Meade County, Stevens County, and Haskell County who battled the fire throughout the day. Additional support was provided by Arkalon Ethanol, Black Hills Energy, CMS Electric, Kansas Highway Patrol, Local Farmers, and the Seward County Emergency Management, Medical Services & Sheriff's Office.

At this time the fire investigation is ongoing but multiple structures have been declared a total loss and there is much need for financial support.

While families wait for building inspections they are currently displaced and are without most of their personal belongings.

When we achieve our goal of raising $2000 a cashier's check of $1000 will be given to the Edmunds Family and a cashier's check of $1000 will be given to the Morris Family. All proceeds that exceed our $2000 goal will be given to the Liberal Area Coalition for Families.

The Liberal Area Coalition for Families is also accepting donations to assist families affected by the house fires. Anyone interested in assisting can make a donation to LACF at any Equity Bank location in Liberal, and the teller should be informed that it is for the Hayne House Fires. Checks should be made to LACF with Hayne House Fires in the memo line. Checks and gift cards can also be mailed to LACF, PO Box 631, Liberal KS 67905. All donations will be given as direct assistance to the families.
