Find My Kidney Teena Coronado
Donation protected
Teena just underwent a Kidney Transplant at Walter Reed! A seconded chance at life. She is now on her journey of recovering from surgery at Fisher House. Recovery is filled with lots of pain, swelling and medications. The Coronado's need some assistance on covering expenses while they stay at the Fisher House 6-8 weeks.
Teena was diagnosed with Adult Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) at the age of 15 and was searching for a living kidney donor to prolong her life. She is a wife, mother of three boys, a real estate agent, and a worship leader. Her biggest fear is she won't be there to watch her sons grow up, graduate, get married and share in the joy of their biggest life events. What is PKD? PKD is an inherited disorder in which clusters of cysts develop primarily within your kidneys, causing your kidneys to enlarge and lose function over time. Having many cysts or large cysts can damage your kidneys. Some complications of this disease are that it interferes with the ability to keep wastes from building to toxic levels in the kidneys, causes elevated blood pressure and can require ongoing kidney dialysis or a kidney transplant to prolong life. Teena has been able to manage most of these complications through medications since the age of 21; however, the disease has progressed aggressively in recent months leaving her with just 10% kidney function.
