Financial Relief Amidst Grief

Donation protected
Dear all,

The COVID-19 pandemic has upended the lives of so many hard-working people and has led to increasing employment uncertainty and paralyzing financial insecurity for many. I have been one of those people since I was furloughed back in March.

Over the past several months, it has become increasingly difficult for me to maintain steady employment, not only due to the challenges of the pandemic, but also due to my own mental and physical well-being. As a result, I have been unable to financially support my most essential needs, which has only compounded and intensified the distress of the trauma and challenges that have long disrupted my life in addition to my newly orphaned status due to my father’s passing.

I come to you now, with a heavy, broken, but open heart, asking for an outpouring of your love and support as I raise money to pursue a personal recovery plan to address the emotional, traumatic, and financial hardships that I have been facing for many years that continue to creep back to surface of my reality. It’s hard to admit that I truly have disabilities that make it very hard to work amidst a crisis: complex PTSD with high anxiety, major depressive disorder, and ADHD. My symptoms have been worsening and it’s gotten to the point where I can’t leave my bed or room most days. I’m considering this an emergency.

With the utmost humility, I implore you to give as generously as you are able to help me reach my goal so that I can quickly and efficiently execute my plan of action.

As a fundamental part of my recovery plan, I intend to pursue, immediately, an intensive therapy program to address and to begin to heal from the significant and severe trauma I have experienced in my life. I’m taking my first step by reaching out for support before my symptoms worsen.

I am graciously requesting the following funds based on my initial anticipated need as I seek trauma treatment:

Housing and utilities (for 2-3 months): $2000
Therapy/Treatment: $1500+
Emergency fund: $500

The nature of this campaign is time sensitive as I’m in danger of losing my apartment by the end of the year and haven’t been able to work or pay any bills since November began. The funds will go toward my essential needs for this month first and the next 2-3 months (paid in advance) while the rest will be set aside for treatment.

Please know that your generosity and financial support at yet another pivotal moment in my life is one of the greatest blessings that I could possibly receive. As I do hard work to improve my health in therapy, take free classes and group therapy, get back to work part time to pay for more treatment, and build a more secure future for myself, I am dedicated to paying your investment in me forward.

Every donation, no matter how small, supports me tremendously. Please share this page with those in your network or with anyone that you think may be able to help.

I’m incredibly for everyone who’s helped me along my journey, I wouldn’t have made it this far without your support.

With the utmost humility, respect, and gratitude, sincerely,
Thank you

“Sharing our trauma breaks the power of shame over both tellers and listeners. Intrinsically, every person who has been abused feels shame. Shame dissipates when the survivor talks about it and their disclosure is then met with belief, acceptance, love, and support. Even the shame of fellow survivors can decrease simply through listening to someone else’s story—because they then know they’re not alone.” - Connie Baker
