Financial Support for Ongoing Family Tragedies

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Hun and I am fundraising to help provide financial support for my brother Heang and sister-in-law Sofiya. Their family has been going through unimaginable tragedies with the most recent death of Sofiya's mother.

On 3/31/24, Sofiya's mother Mrs Sopheap Sok passed away from complications of stage 4 lung cancer. She was recently diagnosed in January 2024 and had been undergoing chemotherapy to treat it. She had been at Hershey Medical Center in the ICU for a month and unfortunately did not improve. A little over 6 months, ago, their family suffered the loss of Sofiya's father Mr. Sarouem Krib on 8/25/23 at York Hospital unexpectedly due to complications of serious infection. Both are now no longer suffering and reunited again.

On top of these recent deaths, their 9 year old son (my nephew) Ethan, was recently found to have a rare brain tumor. Ethan was diagnosed with an Aggressive Psammomatoid Ossifying Fibroma. His mass measures 5.0 x 4.6 x 4.1 cm and has since grown in size since it was first discovered in January 2024 (around the same time of Mrs Sok's diagnosis). We are lucky that this tumor is not cancerous. Ethan is slated to have a 10 hour surgery to remove the tumor on 4/2/24 at Hershey Medical Center. This is a highly invasive surgery but due to the aggressive nature of the tumor, it has to be removed. A team of four surgeons have come together to perform the surgery. Unfortunately, Ethan will permanently lose his sense of smell and is at risk for his sense of smell and eyesight in one eye due to how they have to operate. The surgeons are not able to remove the entire tumor safely, so some of will remain. Ethan's future with this tumor and his quality of life is up in the air at this time.

With the surgery slated for two days after the death of Sofiya's mother, it has been extremely difficult emotionally to process the death and to navigate/prepare for Ethan's surgery. Since Ethan and Sofiya's mother were diagnosed, Sofiya and Heang have been working tirelessly to be present for all doctor's appointments as well as being present at their jobs, and to tend to their other 3yo son Nolan. Many times throughout the week, Sofiya was going up to Hershey to take both her mother and son to their appointments. At one time, both were admitted to the hospital at the same time. Sofiya owns a nail salon in Leola but has not been able to see her clients, therefore not gaining any income. She is currently attempting to sell her nail salon due to financial stressors. Heang has been working overtime every week to make sure their bills are being taken care of. He no longer has any PTO to take due to already missing so much work this year.

I cannot imagine what my brother and sister in law are going through right now. If we could help relieve them of some financial strain, I believe that they were will eternally grateful. Any financial support will go towards their late mother's medical bill, and upcoming funeral arrangements. This will also go towards Ethan's surgery expenses.

Any financial support would be greatly appreciated if you have the means to donate. Thoughts and prayers will also be greatly appreciated. Please share if you come across this.
