Financial expenses, travel expenses, bills

Hello everyone, I had a placental abruption & had our 2nd beautiful baby at 24 weeks & 6 days. I will be out of work & we will be traveling a lot to visit him, as he’s out of state. So we are asking ‘reluctantly’ for some help, to cover travel expenses & bills while he is out of state, & I’m out of work until he is well enough to return to our local hospital. & once he is released still trying to enjoy a normal maternity leave.

He battled a pulmonary hemorrhage & had to have 2 blood transfusions when he was 2 days old.

He is now fighting a stage 4 brain bleed. the hope is it will resolve itself & won’t spread or develop fluid in his brain. Right now they are doing ultrasounds twice a week to monitor it!

He has a PDA (hole in his heart) but luckily it’s small enough they don’t need to intervene with that either & are monitoring that regularly as well.

6/27- as of today he’s had 2 more blood transfusions, he’s had a collapsed lung & he has developed cystic pvl in his brain. This means the white matter around the blood clot in his brain is dying. They have told us this means he’ll have cerebral palsy on the left side of his body & have vision & hearing problems on his left eye & ear. Hopefully with extensive therapy we can minimize these effects.

This isn’t our first nicu experience however much different. Our first made his arrival at 34 weeks with a spontaneous water break, we spent 30 days in the nicu. This time will be more like 3-4 months.

We appreciate all good thoughts & vibes. These nicu warriors are something else & we are just hoping he pulls thru over the next month. It’ll be a roller coaster of emotions for a while.

We ended up with 2 under 1 because baby 2 decided to come 4 months early.

Anything helps to cover these extra expenses while I’m recovering & traveling to see our little.

The hospital has also told us he will not be transferred to our local hospital until his due date now of August 17th.
