In Memory of Charles English;

How does one begin to sum up the life of a man who created the soundtrack of 3 generations of Detroiters? What words could possibly be enough to describe the immensity of the life lived and the impact made by a giant? Charles was a friend to many. Charles taught most of us everything we know about music. Charles kept us dancing through the horrors of life in a dying city when we were all in the full bloom of post adolescent madness. He showed us by example how to be unique, how to rise above adversity and he did all of this in one of the fanciest pairs of Mary Jane shoes ever worn by a DJ. 

Charles English was a gift, that gave until the end. His love and decency wrapped an entire city in music. 

Long after most DJs would have retired, he continued to make people dance all over Detroit. Charles was the embodiment of an era and the musical accompaniment of so many lives.

Goodbye Charles it won’t ever be the same without you.

This fundraiser was started as a request from friends who would like to help to put Charles to rest. Proceeds will go directly to Charles family and used for his final arrangements.
