FINA swimming world championship

As many of you may know, there have been many bumps and curves in my life’s journey.. Nevertheless, I have learned to overcome negative challenges with positive challenges. The WCSU swim team was that positive challenge for me. I loved training with my coaches and teammates, and as a result I now have an amazing opportunity to represent my native home (Rwanda) at FINA, the Swimming World Championship in Budapest this summer.  My ultimate goal is to make it at the Olympics as I continue training hard.

As a full time nursing student and athlete, my part time job will not cover the $4,000 in training, equipments and travel expenses.  WCSU generously will support the coaching and pool time.  My family will be as supportive of the commitment in every way possible and we are able to raise close to $1000.  We are not able to cover all the expenses to make this happen. My friends have encouraged me not give up this opportunity but seek support. They have said " you may not have money but you have friends, many friends, allow them to help you with the remaining $ 3000".

Each and every friend has been such an inspiration to me.  If I can swim in the World Championships, I hope to be an inspiration to so many young girls to pursue their dreams through all their bumps and curves in life.
