Fig is a sweet natured dog, who has been mistreated without the owner's knowledge. Ezra, Fig's owner, noticed Fig's behavior becoming more and more dangerous to others, without knowing what was causing it. Unknown to Ezra, Fig had been abused by two men Ezra trusted to care for her. By the time he realized it, Fig's fear of others had become so intense that she bit a stranger on the sidewalk.
While Ezra has been doing his best to rehabilitate Fig, life circumstances and mental health have taken a toll on both of them. Fig is now registered as a Potentially Dangerous animal in the city of Minneapolis, MN, and cannot stay with Ezra in his current housing situation. He's faced with the options of rehoming Fig, trying to relocate with a highly reactive dog, or putting Fig down.
A bite history and a Potentially Dangerous registration are huge barriers to adoption, though Ezra and many of the dog trainers he's reached out to believe that Fig can be rehabilitated. We are hoping to fundraise money to send her to a professional board & train where she can relearn how to feel secure in life. With Fig's high needs, we are looking at a minimum 4 week program. This isn't going to 'fix' her, but rather jumpstart her behavior modification so that her continued training is more manageable .
Every little bit helps us meet our goal to reset Fig's behavior & insecurities, while ensuring Ezra doesn't lose his housing. All proceeds will go towards Fig's care. Please consider donating $5, this might just be Fig's last hope.
