A lil birdie asked for an up date ...
As most of you know
Melyssa comes from a working- poor family who were homeless and living in motels for years after they had lost everything to Hurricane Sandy
all while my niece (then 3yrs -now 9 yr old Melyssa) was & is battling yet another nasty relapse of
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). This makes round 3!
Poor little thing is in such pain, so unhappy & depressed. Not to mention SCARED. This time around is a tough one. We’ve never seen her this depressed.
Myssa (nickname) has 2 sisters -13 yr old Keila , 18 yr old Leila and brother Christopher lives w/his fiancee Jaycee.
We thought were in the home stretch health wise for my niece, as we got her
All Clear this February (which is also her birth month)
Then June came…
she went in for a routine blood work up. Much to our shock Myssa had yet again –in just four short months relapsed. WTH?
You had to pick our jaws up off the floor.
This lil gal at 3 ½ years of age started this journey and is making another trek up the mountain of courage to fight for the 3 time!! SO NOT FAIR!
She has spent more time in & out of hospitals and plugged into more machines than she has played on this planet.
That’s just not right.
Myssa asked her mom, Kathleen “why did this happened to me again. I eat well do all the right things”.
It breaks your heart to hear that. Kathleen & Josh are so strong but this is ripping their souls apart to watch Myssa endure such pain. Her sisters are so worried and feel helpless. As does the entire family.
This round is so critical that the doctors had the parents take time off from work to be by her side 24/7. They’re not getting paid for this time off.
They are struggling financially w/day to day expenses. Yet remain hopeful.
Though their struggle is constant; this family always tries to help others and give assistance in any way they’re able.
I’m hoping you can help to lift the fighting spirits of my 9 yr old niece by sharing this, donating only if you can. Most importantly by sending out healing vibes.
Myssa is back in Choc Hospital in Orange for another month if you would like to reach out or send cards of inspiration & strength.
Myssa & Mom are Team Iron Man (Mom is also a Wonder Woman fanatic) Dad & middle sister Keila are Team Captain America and the eldest sister Leila is Team Black Panther.
Truth be told Melyssa & the whole family are
ALL MY HEROES.
