Hospice Support to Fighting Frank

Donation protected
Hello Everyone,

My name is Simona Argiro and I am starting this fundraiser in honour of my dad. My dad, Frank Argiro is only 56 years old and was diagnosed with the rarest and most aggressive type of brain cancer on February 13th, 2016.

To give you a little bit of background of my dad, for those of you who are lucky enough to know him I am sure you can say he is the strongest man many of us know. Like many, he had his share of obstacles throughout his life but regardless the situation he always has done everything he can to help anyone. He was the hardest working man, and although he no longer can work, his hard work is noticed through other aspects of his life. He is the most selfless man and has the biggest heart. He is a husband to my beautiful mother, a dad of three, an uncle, brother in law, son in law, and a grandfather to one! He is 56 years old and was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor called glioblastoma which almost took him from us. This type of tumor grows extremely rapidly. Lucky for us the surgeons and staff at St Michaels Hospital were able to remove 90% of the tumor and saved his life. We were able to spend all this time with him.

Through this journey so many changes have come in our family that were life changing. One couldn’t even imagine the hardship that comes with being diagnosed with cancer until you are in that position. But like my dad has always told us, there is nothing you can’t handle as long as you have your family to stand by your side.

The last 9 months have been life changing and along with the many alterations involved, selling our house was one of them. Luckily for my parents they were given the opportunity to stay at the Bethell Hospice here in Inglewood, Caledon. The Bethell Hospice is a home ran solely on donations and fundraising which offers 24-hour care and support to its residence. Accommodating 10 patience at a time plus their families, each volunteer has a heart of gold. Each year, 40% of the funds necessary to operate Bethell Hospice must be raised through local fundraising efforts. There are no fees to stay at Bethell Hospice or to participate in any of our Community Care Programs, and no one is ever denied care due to their financial situation. To ensure that itès services will always remain at no cost to all who need them, over $1,000,000 must be raised in operating and endowment funds each year.

In honour of my dad who has had such great opportunity to be offered residency in this home along with my mom and the several other members of our community who have shared a similar experience here at the Bethell Home, my family and I are putting together a walk through Bolton. This walk will fundraise money for the Bethel Home and offer recognition of their kind care and support ffered to our loved ones. All proceeds will be given to Bethell Hospice and presented to them the same day as the walk.

The Run will take place in the new year as times and event details will be provided within time. We are looking to set the date for a Saturday  in late March (the 18th or 25th) of 2017 when the weather seems to ease up on us. The run will start at 9 am and the event should be completed by around 12

Any donations are greatly appreciated however to participate in the run a minimum donation of $20.00 will be required as you will receive a t-shirt to show your support.

All proceeds will be given to the Bethel Hospice here in Inglewood, Caledon!

We all know someone who has suffered from cancer or any other time of illness and raising awarenes and supporting the Bethell hospice is something special!
