Fighting for Two - Pregnant with Stage 3 Cancer
Our sweet friend, Miranda Lopez, was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of stage 3 breast cancer. This would be a devastating diagnosis for anyone, but it is compounded by the fact that Miranda is a young, 32-year-old mother of two, who is also 5 months pregnant with her third child. She lost her mother 5 years ago to the same disease.
Miranda, due in November 2021, will soon start chemotherapy. With Miranda now unable to work full time, and the significant increase in hospital visits to meet with the Oncologist, high-risk Ob-Gyn, frequent ultrasounds, bloodwork, and chemotherapy, her husband, Juan, will have to take time off work to support his wife and care for their two young children while Miranda focuses on healing and bringing a new baby into the world. Without their dual income, they will need help maintaining the home and caring for their children, ages 5 and 2.
Not only will Miranda be fighting for her life, but Baby will need to be delivered early and could face an extended NICU stay. After delivering, Miranda will continue more chemotherapy, then plans to undergo surgery and radiation treatments. The family has a long road ahead of them.
Miranda is one of the kindest, most genuine people you could ever hope to meet, and it pains me to think about them worrying about money during this time. Even if you can only afford to donate the cost of a cup of coffee, anything you can give helps.
Funds will be used to cover day-to-day expenses such as formula and diapers for the new baby, food, gas, mortgage payments, and medical bills.

Nuestra querida amiga, Miranda López, fue diagnosticada recientemente con una forma agresiva de cáncer de mama en etapa 3 (avanzada). Esto sería un diagnosis devastador para cualquiera, pero se ve agravado por el hecho de que Miranda es una joven madre de 32 años con dos hijos, y también está embarazada de 5 meses de su tercer hij@. Ella perdió a su propia madre hace 5 años por la misma enfermedad.
Miranda, que dará a luz en noviembre del 2021, pronto comenzará la quimioterapia. Ahora que ya no puede trabajar a tiempo completo, y con el aumento significativo de las visitas al hospital para reunirse con el oncólogo, el obstetra-ginecólogo de alto riesgo, las sonografías frecuentes, los análisis de sangre y la quimioterapia, su esposo, Juan, tendrá que tomar tiempo libre para apoyar a su esposa y cuidar a sus dos hijos pequeños mientras ella se enfoca en sanar y traer un nuevo bebé al mundo. Sin sus ingresos normales, necesitarán ayuda para el mantenimiento del hogar y el cuidado de sus hijos, de 5 y 2 años.
Miranda no solo luchará por su vida, sino que también tendrá que dar a luz a antes de tiempo y su bebe podría tener estadía prolongada en la UCI. Después del parto, continuará con más quimioterapia, y luego tiene planes de someterse a cirugía y tratamientos de radiación. Su familia tiene un largo camino por delante.
Miranda es una de las personas más amables y sinceras que podrías esperar conocer, y me duele pensar en ellos preocupándose por el dinero durante este tiempo. Incluso si solo puede donar el costo de una taza de café, cualquier cosa es de gran ayuda.
Los fondos se utilizarán para cubrir los gastos diarios, como fórmula y pañales para el/la nuev@ bebé, comida, gasolina, pagos de hipoteca y facturas médicas.
