Fighting For The Fidler Family

We’re seeking prayers and funds to help a family friend who is battling cancer.  Jackie is a fighter and always puts everyone else first. Unfortunately, a few months after retiring from a 21 year career at the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, she was diagnosed with cancer. Compounding the family’s struggles is that they don’t have traditional healthcare. Being that Jackie’s husband is self-employed, they have private health insurance. After being diagnosed and fighting for her first year, the insurance made the financial decision to not renew their policy. Jackie continues to fight, however it is mostly out of their own pocket. Without the help from family, friends, neighbor’s, and even strangers, the family will continue to suffer as they have to prioritize their bills and her treatment.  

     Jackie dedicated her career at the sheriff’s office to the youth of Volusia County. Demonstrating her selflessness, on one occasion, Jackie rushed into a school’s pond to save an autistic student who was beginning to drown. Without hesitation or regard for her own safety, she swam to the middle of the pond in nearly full uniform, and was able to grab the student and return her to safety. This is only one example that demonstrates Jackie’s love and devotion to the community.
