Fighting for Paul Fitzpatrick
Donation protected
In early August, Paul Fitzpatrick had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor and cancerous lymph nodes from his neck. The surgery was long and intense. After the surgery the doctors were hopeful they removed all the cancer but prescribed chemo and radiation to be certain. The family breathed a sigh of relief. Unfortunately that did not last long. Shortly after Paul's 7 hour surgery he suffered a major stroke. Up at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, the professionals have been working with Paul on his recovery. It is a slow frustrating process.
Paul will begin six weeks of chemo and radiation in Rochester as well as continue work with the rehab department to gain his strength back. He also lost some cognitive functions due to the stroke and will have a lot of time and work ahead of him to get that back.
Many have asked how to help or provide assistance at this time. Unfortunately this will be a marathon and not a sprint. Currently someone is putting together a schedule to bring meals. Prayer is always welcome.
With a lengthy battle ahead of them, the family will have significant medical bills that are not covered by insurance. They will also have lodging and travel costs to Rochester. The family is grateful for any financial assistance. They are also very thankful for all those who have provided food, prayers and comfort these past couple of weeks.
Please consider a donation to help Liesl and the boys through this difficult time.
