CAN YOU HELP OUR MOM, Katie Hallstrom, PLEASE!
I’m just a little guy - 3 years old, but my two brothers are smaller than me.
Chris is almost 2
& Chance turns 1 in December.
Grandma Prince is helping me start this campaign, as my Pre-School program hasn’t taught me to write yet, and our Dad is super busy working full time, watching after us and our Mom.
I know everybody has an amazing Mom…but
OUR MOM is super amazing. Let me tell you why…
Five years ago (2012), our Mom was diagnosed with 3 types of Lupus.
Lupus Cerebritis,
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus(SLE) and,
Lupus Nephritis.
One of these alone would be rough for most, but all three – whew! Lupus Cerebritis is the tough one – it has attacked her central nervous system and brain leaving multiple lesions causing grand mal seizures, brain swelling, left side weakness, blood clots and brain bleeds. Up to now Mom has used every option available to her including two years at Johns Hopkins Hospital under the best care in the country for her very rare condition.
Spinal taps, bone marrow draws, chemotherapy, radiation, endless amounts of I.V.’s, needle pokes and countless medications, we believe she is still with us because of her POSITIVE ATTITUDE (just try keeping her down – which some people refer to as “hellishly stubborn”!), amazing doctors and the Power of Prayer.
Unfortunately, with all of the things working FOR her, the doctors have stopped chemotherapy as it is no longer working to help her. Without further options here in the U.S. the doctors have tried to give our Mom an expiration date of little more than a year...but she ain’t having it!
Nothing short of a miracle, Mom has been presented with an opportunity to further her life.
A doctor with extensive research in stem cell therapy has contacted Mom and given her a chance to receive this life saving procedure starting in December of 2017. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover expenses involved with this treatment, and with the severity of Mom’s disease, they want to do three separate procedures, four to six weeks apart in Los Algodones, Mexico.
Here’s where you can you help. While Mom is working towards getting better and Dad is working and taking care of us, your donations will help alleviate the stress that comes with the price tag of this possibly life saving treatment.
