Hello Friends!
We are reaching out for assistance as Ezra will be heading to Childrens Hospital of WI early tomorrow morning for intensive inpatient heart rejection treatment in the ICU. As some of you know he began to have rejection last Sept and thus far it has been hard to treat outpatient so having exhausted easier treatment at home, his cardiac team wants him inpatient for at least 2 weeks(he will miss the start of school). 
The protocol for his treatment is a heart catheterization first to check his coronary arteries and pressures plus a biopsy and a mixture of something called "plasmapheresis" in conjunction with IV steroids and IVIG with a med change during that time. 
Given that he has mitochondrial disease,
 finding the right treatment and med combinations can be difficult. Please keep Ezra and our family in your thoughts as we chart new territory with his heart transplant. It is worrisome for all.
Annie will be staying at the Ronald McDonald house across the street from Childrens until the treatment is over. Leo will be at home caring for Nori and Ivan as well as trying to work some.
