Many of you may have already heard, but on April 5th, at the age of 30, Sena Lowery learned that she had stage 4 colon and liver cancer.
She had been having severe back aches, her right side of her stomach was hurting, and she was feeling nauseous and having headaches. At first her doctor thought she had some sort of infection or an allergy, but couldn’t pin down the cause. They decided to run lab work and ordered a CT scan. When the results came back, Sena was completely blindsided. She was informed she had a mass on the right side of her colon and it had spread to her liver. She was in shock and couldn’t even fathom what she was being told.
Sena and Kevin decided to immediately get the ball rolling and scheduled a colonoscopy as well as a liver biopsy that following week to understand the severity of the recent news, as well as meet with an oncologist. Her doctor determined that the best route of treatment to take was chemo therapy.
Sena will be doing chemo every two weeks, followed by 48 continued hours of “at home” chemo treatment via a pump. This treatment will continue for at least the next 6 months in addition to continued doctors and medical appointments for oversight and management of the cancer.
In addition to this, Sena struggles with severe allergies, and will have many changes in her normal routine. There will be some changes and accommodations that will need to be made to their home in Ruskin to accommodate Senas current medical needs and to make her more comfortable.
Sena and Kevin were recently married in September of 2017. This news has been an incredible shock to them. This page has been created to assist the newly weds with the unexpected cost of medical care and the needed home upgrades that will assist Sena with successful ongoing treatments and recovery.
Sena and Kevin want to thank everyone so much for their ongoing support, prayers and love. The outpour of love and assistance that the community provides is greatly appreciated and words can’t express how grateful they are to be a part of such an amazing group of people!!
