Fight With Uyria

Hello, my name is Lakendria Simmons. This is my best friend Uyria Kemp in the hospital at UT Health in Tyler, Texas. Uyria contracted COVID during the beginning of August as a frontline healthcare worker, which turned into a condition called Acute Neurological Syndrome along with Enchphalomyelitis. She has lost a lot of sensation all over her body, and is barely able to walk without assistance. Uyria has also suffered several seizures during this time. Doctors have been working with/on her for several weeks now with very limited answers due to this virus being new. She has underwent several failed plasmapharesis treatments and is now being treated with four rounds of Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIG) and a chemotherapy called Retuximab. We are unsure if these treatments are being effective yet because it is too early to tell. We have been told that even after her release from the hospital, she will need extensive therapy. These conditions have caused Uyria several breathing conditions, which have made it for her to be on and off the breathing ventilator. Uyria does not have health insurance during this time, and her family are searching high and low for affordable doctors to help with her situation. She also has been diagnosed with Lupus during this terrible time. Uyria does not have any children at the moment, but she does help foster her two year old nephew who has not been able to see her in over a month. She is a sweet and caring person who is in dire need of any and all help!! With all of this going on, of course she needs help maintaining housing, billing, and other financial hardships.
