In 2010, Elisa was diagnosed with Lupus after attempts with 8 different doctors to find the reason for her pain and fatigue. Then in June 2012, she was also diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension (PH).
For those who are unfamiliar with Pulmonary Hypertension:
-It is high blood pressure of the lungs’ arteries. The arteries become constricted and make it difficult for blood to flow to the lungs. In result, the heart works much harder and can eventually cause heart failure if not treated, the treatments stop working, and/or the condition progressively worsens.
-There is no cure yet, only different treatment options to help manage PH.
Since her diagnosis, Elisa has been working with her team of doctors to do the best for her to sustain the attempt of accomplishing average, daily activities. She tries to be as physically active as possible, has become a life coach in hopes she can bring hope to those who are also affected by this illness. She has been active with people in the PHA community and created fundraisers to donate to PH organizations. Elisa was working as a stylist, but over the past year, she has been unable to work due to the PH gradually getting worse.
During her fight of Lupus and PH, she has taken various medications and undergone experimental treatments which are becoming harder to work with her condition. Elisa is currently using Remodulin, which is the 2nd most expensive drug covered by Medicare. This medication has inhibited her quality of life even though it’s sustaining it. The purpose of this GoFundMe fundraiser is to help Elisa with medical bills that she has accrued over the years, seek additional and/or new treatments, or any other costs associated with maintaining her daily life.
Elisa has been dealt a difficult hand in the game of life, yet still remains to be a caring, fun-loving person with such positive outlook even in her worst times. She is the strongest and one of the most giving people that I know: she is the definition of a PHighter! I have seen her help so many people who enters her life without expecting anything in return. She helps because she cares. Now it’s our turn to show her the same love and help her!
