Fight for Cody

On May 4th, our lives were changed forever... Cody was hit by a motor vehicle and suffered numerous severe injuries - one of which was a broken neck and that has left him paralyzed from the upper chest down. After the two extremely scary spine fusion surgeries - Cody worked hard to start breathing on his own and is now off of the ventilator and feeding tubes just 5 weeks later!!!
Cody has an extremely hard road ahead and his Presbyterian insurance had denied 3 appeals for out-of-state treatment. NM is the only state in the country without long-term physical rehab facilities. They approved him for 20 days of rehab after a 5 week stay at Trauma Surgical ICU at UNMH. The only solution they have given us is a nursing home and they won't allow physical therapists to come in and work with Cody due to liability reasons.
Cody has always been an extreme athlete from being a sponsored snowboarder, competitive soccer player, he got his first dirt bike at 5 years old, state ranked golfer to someone committed to learn street style BMX on a whim.... to say Cody was active is an understatement so their solution of letting him waste away in a nursing home bed is NOT an option.
As hard as this has been, the lack of options in our state has definitely been one of the hardest. This means in order to get Cody help, it has to be done on our own.
Please... we need some help to make sure Cody has the best opportunity to gain some sort of life back. We don't know what that looks like at this point but Cody is committed to putting in the work to not have to live the rest of his life within a 10'x20' room staring at a ceiling.
