Fight for Claudia

Donation protected
My name is Jacqueline Graham (age 25), I am a service member of the United States Army, married to a service member with two children ages one and four. My two brothers Miguel (age 20) also active duty and my youngest brother Manuel (age 17) and myself are putting this campaign together for my mother Claudia Rivera
My mother Claudia is 46 years old and happily married to her biggest supporter, my father Hector for 24 years, who is a retired Army Veteran who served 23 years active duty.

My mother has always been a fighter, optimistic and so passionate in everything she does in life, especially when it comes to our family. She is so outspoken in the best way and never lets any one around her fail or come close to it. My mother has always been the one to sacrifice everything she has, to make everyone happy, whether it be a family member or a complete stranger. To all of us she has been as healthy as a horse, so to speak with a few grips and complaints. Little did we know that her going to the Emergency Room at Fort Gordon on Wednesday 23 August 2017 for something we thought was exhaustion and possibly the flu, turned out to be a large tumor on her left frontal lobe of her brain. After further tests and examinations the doctors discovered by Thursday she now had 5 large tumors on her brain and small legions spread throughout her brain, lungs and stomach. The largest tumor on her brain was causing her brain to swell therefore causing her to lose vision, appetite, balance, and apparently her memory. She went into surgery early Friday morning and came out after 5 hours of surgery with no complications. However, the results of the biopsy on the tumor that was removed confirmed that she has Stage 4 Cancer that is believed to have started from her stomach. One day she was planning on trips to visit our family and myself on our tour in Germany and the next she's fighting for her life. The surgeons gave her a possible life expectancy of about 6 months give or take, possibly a year with chemotherapy and radiation. The neurologist said that her brain cancer will be incurable by the rate of which her tumors have multiplied. Chemotherapy and radiation may at least slow down the process.

Non-the less, regardless of how much negative information my mother gets, she continues to be optimistic and tries to be the strong woman we have always known her to be. My Brothers and I are putting this together to try and help my father pay any expenses his insurance my not cover. Hoping and praying that hopefully we can have that possible year with our mother, but we are praying for longer. We are also trying with any money raised to take my mother on a trip to a location of her choice once her doctor gives her the okay. Currently she is in and out of the ICU due to complications from her tumor removal. She is currently admitted in the ICU again for fluid built up in her heart and lungs which is being closely monitored. She has also formed blood clots in her legs and arms from the IVs that we placed during her initial surgery and hospital stay, that have now traveled to her lungs. She is currently in the process of trying to take care of these current issues before she can focus and fight for the bigger issue at hand, fighting her cancer. We are grateful for the help of anyone, we're hoping once she is strong enough after her current stay in the ICU that we can make her as comfortable as possible while she begins her Chemo and radiation process to fight for her life, but most of all time. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and we are so thankful for anything that you can do. If a donation is something that can’t be provided, kind and helpful words will also be highly appreciated.
Thank you all and please help us make my mothers time left, be a time to remember!
