Fight Against Chiari Malformation

To know Tammie is to love Tammie, we as her children, coworkers, family, and students come together to wrap our arms around her as a whole to help support her in recovery. Many of you had Tammie as your child’s teacher at CPA and if so, sure know how adored she is by the children. She is the most selfless woman and those that have the privilege of having her a part of your life know exactly what a positive impact she has on others. She truly is a ray of sunshine and brings light to all situations. Over the past couple years while remaining her kind, positive self in never wanting others to know her pain, she has battled the physical and mental pain of misdiagnosis’s and just wanting answers! 6 months ago we finally found answers to her chronic pain throughout her body. A rare brain disorder called Chiari Malformations where the lower part of the brain tissue extends through an opening at the base of the skull and cerebellum into the spinal canal. This causes severe headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, fatigue, weakness and leaving her body in a chronic state of aches and pains. Tammie will have brain surgery on February 7th to relieve the pressure at the base of the skull. We want Tammie to feel the support and heal for as long as her body needs and to get the rest she deserves as this healing is extremely extensive and painful. Although we are feeling relief that we have answers, we have a long road to recovery ahead.
