Fiesta Bowl Beavs Documentary
The 2001 Fiesta Bowl champion Oregon State Beavers were a team that struck fear into their opponents and played with passion and swagger still unmatched in college football to this day. We want to tell their story and we need your help to do so.
Why This Story?
Our hope is to excite the OSU fan-base by telling the story in documentary form. This film will not only memorialize an iconic Beavs team but will also serve as a tool for recruiting and branding for the football team. This story will resonate beyond Beaver Nation and will boost the Oregon State brand on a national level.
The triumphs of this team have not been properly celebrated, even though this is statistically the best team in Oregon State football history. With your help, this team can be honored the way they deserve. The film will serve as a reminder that anything is possible in Corvallis.
Who Are We?
We are three Oregon State alumni; passionate about storytelling, filmmaking, and of course, Beavers football. There is nobody more equipped to tell this story than the three of us and we’d love the opportunity to do so.
Ashtyn Butuso has produced, directed, and edited short and long form content for national TV and social media (Pac-12 Networks, the Relish). Alex Crawford produced Legend of the Giant Killers, a documentary film that tells the story of Oregon State’s 1967 Giant Killers team. Jordan van der Weyden is a seasoned Director of Photography who has created video content for brands such as Nike, Adidas, Google, and the Los Angeles Rams.
We'd love to bring this story to life, and we'd love to have your help doing so. 
Current Progress
So far, we have started filming preliminary interviews and will be releasing new content over the course of the next year. We intend to continue filming with former players, coaches, opponents, members of the media, and other key individuals for the next few months. Our aim is to wrap production in time for the 2020-2021 season.
Our goal is to raise a portion of our total budget via crowdfunding and the rest via private sponsorship.
