Ed's surgery costs/bills

He's not quite 40, but the doctors say he has "the knees of an 80-year-old man."  They also, in the same breath, say he's too young for full-knee replacements, which he will definitely need eventually.

As you may or may not know, Edward had surgery on his left knee in February of this year.  He was found to have basically no cartilage left, so it is bone-on-bone in there.  They performed, among other things, a microfracture on his kneecap - a process in which they drill several tiny holes in the kneecap to promote cartilage growth.  After a difficult healing process from that surgery, he was told 2 things:  1) Again, he will definitely need total knee replacements of both knees in the future and 2) As soon as possible he needs to have the microfracture surgery/Baker's cyst/ACL tear repair on his right knee as well, as it is in the same condition. 

We have insurance to help cover costs, but the co-pays needed up front are extremely expensive for us right now.  That cost alone, before he can even have the surgery totals $1014!!  The other difficulty is that Edward's job offers no short term disability (otherwise he would've definitely signed up for it)!  So, while he has to miss a few weeks of work for recovery and physical therapy, we will have extremely limited income.

We have had a lot of "life events" happen unexpectedly over these past few months that were beyond our control (such as having to move, car repairs and then unfortunately being down to just one car, job changes and other medical expenses). 

Edward's pain is to the point of not being able to sleep.  No pain medications work.  He is desperate for the surgery.  It constantly hurts, especially walking, and nothing helps anymore.  I have literally sold everything I can to try and help cover costs.   At this point, I am doing this as a last resort as I want him to just feel better - to have no more pain, to be able to sleep and be able to walk.  He is such a hard, dedicated worker, great Dad and great husband who would do anything for us and others as well!

So, I am starting this page to help raise money needed to pay for co-pays, bills, gas, groceries and whatever insurance won't cover.  Please consider helping Edward be able to do this.  I appreciate it more than you will ever know!!!!  Thank you so much for any donations, thoughts or prayers - everything helps!!!
