FFA Creek Fire Service Project

My name is Rich Vandenack. I have had the pleasure of working at Sierra High School in Tollhouse, California for the past 25 years. Along with fellow teacher Brad Wyman, and farm manager Keenan Quintana , as well as our amazing school administration and teachers, we have a wonderful ag program filled with amazing kids that is tremendously supported by our local community. Aireal Covey a resident of Tollhouse, Sierra High School alumni, and ag teacher at Clovis East High School and I have been talking about how to harness the Love and Goodwill of the FFA and larger ag community. We have decided to start a Go Fund Me Page that will be used to help those most in need first.
Unfortunately, our community has been devastated by the Creek Fire recently. The community that has always supported our program now needs help. We have numerous past, present and future FFA members that have been impacted, a portion of which have lost everything. Most of our families in the mountain community have been evacuated but will return with no damages to their property due to the amazing firefighting crews and law enforcement. However we have some that will be recovering from this over the next few years.
The FFA program is based on community service, and true to form, we have been bombarded with offers to help. We have been blessed with help for our immediate needs but the long term recovery for our community will be great. We know that we are surrounded by the agriculture community that wants to support our mountain community that has been impacted by this fire.
We feel strongly that the funds raised will be used wisely and with a priority to the highest need first. We realize we can’t be all things to all people, but with this fund we hope to utilize the love and support of our FFA and Ag families to bless the families that are desperate for help at this moment.
Once again we are so grateful to our fire and first responders that the loss isn’t greater.
