Help Grace Kick Cancer's Ass!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Katie, and I am fundraising for my best friend’s fight against cancer. Months after Grace and Elijah celebrated their marriage, Grace was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer (meaning it has spread to her lymph nodes). Grace and Elijah need our support to cover medical and living expenses during Grace’s treatment and recovery. Will you donate to help?

About Grace:
I met Grace during our first year at Benson Polytechnic High School (10 years ago!) and I was immediately in awe of her maturity and kindness. Seriously though, I mistook her for a senior before I realized her tendency to make use of the entire study hall period was just her diligent nature. Grace is one of the most caring and delightful individuals I know. I fondly remember enjoying surprise picnics she prepared for us in the park, laughing with her endlessly along the California coast on our first parentless road trip, and dishing out our feelings to one another over delectable takeout sushi.

Her passion for life, drive to help others, and motivation to experience the world have always been a light for others and have taken her to great heights. In 2018, fueled by her faith and a hunger to expand her horizons, Grace participated in The World Race, a journey to 11 different countries to help others through critical service projects. After finishing her degree in biology, she now works at a supported living facility, serving her community under a demanding schedule and without a complaint.

I was blessed to be part of Grace and Elijah’s wedding and witness their joyful, goofy, and pure love for each other this past December. Marriage often brings challenges, but no newlyweds anticipate a cancer diagnosis as one of their hurdles together. I know Grace and Elijah will support each other through this. Let’s do our part to support them!

How we estimated our fundraising goal:
Our current estimation of medical expenses and supplies, transportation expenses (Grace accessing her Portland-based care team, Elijah traveling to/from Kennewick and Portland to visit Grace and support her), and miscellaneous expenses is $15,000 over the next year. The current estimation of wage loss from work missed during Grace’s treatment and recovery is $40,000.

Other ways to support:
Grace and Elijah need more than just financial support during this time. They are asking for prayers for the challenges they face as well as messages of love and support to help them stay strong. Consider making meals to sustain them on long days of treatment and sharing this fundraiser to spread the word. If you are a family member or friend in the area, reach out to schedule some quality time with Grace. She needs all the love and support of her community to get through this.
