Help Festival press new album "Contours of Exile" on vinyl

Greetings, friends. This GoFundMe is an effort to put the new Festival album "Contours of Exile" on vinyl. And who is Festival? That's us! Three longtime friends and musicians who discovered a mutual love of bands and artists like The Amazing, Dungen, Midlake, and Jonathan Wilson. Our music has conjured up these words in our listeners: medieval, ambient guitars, psychedelic, and pastoral.

"Contours of Exile" is the title I (Sam) chose for this new album because it felt representative of the subjects for these songs. I wrote about my struggles with finding my place in our world and in our time when it feels like I was made for somewhere else, or some "when" else. These songs are born from that process of reconciling reality with longing. "Contours of Exile" means, "here is how it feels to be away from where and when you belong." Ultimately, it feels to me like a struggle in which there is great hope, although it is often a hard-won hope.

We feel this second album is also a great leap forward for us on the technical side. As you may know, after a band records an album it has to be mixed. This involves lots of tweaks to the audio to get it all sounding just how you want it to. It has a huge effect on how the album ends up sounding. For this album we had the opportunity to work with mix engineer Mattias Glava, who owns and operates an incredible studio in Gothenburg, Sweden that is stocked with amazing analog equipment.
