FES bike for Marie

Hi, friends....As many of you know, on May 20, 2017, Marie fell in her camper while camping in Belmont, NV, and severely injured her spinal cord in the C2-T1 area. She was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, where she underwent extensive surgery and was in the trauma ICU for two weeks. She was then flown to Craig Hospital in Denver, CO, to begin rehabilitation and learn how to live as a quadriplegic.
On August 16, 2017, after two and a half months at Craig, she came back home to Bishop. She has some muscle movement in her arms and legs but not enough to do anything for herself, yet. We are very hopeful this will change. We were told to prepare for up to two years of recovery.
She is receiving physical and occupational therapy at Northern Inyo Hospital. They are encouraged with the movement she has, but they don't have the equipment she was able to use while at Craig, the downfalls of living in a small town.
One piece of equipment her providers feel would be extremely beneficial to her recovery, and Craig actually gave her a perscription for, is called a Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) bike. An FES bike allows people with little or no voluntary leg movement to pedal a stationary leg-cycle while at the same time low-level electrical pulses are transmitted through suface electrodes to the leg muscles. They are, however, extremely costly. So we have decided to start this Go Fund Me to help with the expense. Anything is very much appreciated!!! We can't wait for Marie to have this bike and be able to use it daily in the comfort of her home. And when she has more use of her arms, we can add on the FES arm stimulator.
