FERN NEEDS A RUN IN!

This is Fern ~ She is a 22 y.o. standardbred mare (we believe her registered name is Chickadee Robinska, from what we can determine from her tattoo). First Light Farm Equine Shelter pulled her from the #10 pen (slaughterbound) at Camelot Auction in 2010.

Fern was adopted out but returned to us earlier this year, since she was not doing well after her pasture mate died. Fern is not rideable due to what our vet believes is a neural sheath tumor near her stifle. Since she was returned once and since she is not rideable, we have decided that she will live out her days here at the shelter.

Fern does not like being stalled. She much prefers the freedom of a run-in shed. Problem is, we don't have enough run- ins to go around! We would like to buy her one so that she doesn't have to fret about being in a stall anymore. Can you help us buy Fern a shed? If we achieve that goal and exceed the cost of the new shed, the remainder of the money raised will go into our general fund which pays for hay, grain and veterinary care.

We will be calling the shed "Karen's Place," in honor of a lovely woman and shelter supporter who recently succumbed to cancer. We have received several donations in her memory and will direct those donations to this effort.
